the quest system is EQ2 is a lot of fun, much like WoW. some of the quests are story based, but dont give much reward. the most rewarding quests are the normal kill quests since really, what else can you do in an MMO.
however, I really like the class subsystem, the leveling is MUCH more difficult than in WoW, the death penalty is much more extreme, and the play system seems a little less geared towards little kids (in other words, more steep learning curve).
however, you still get the stupid players, and you can only have 4 characters per acct.
if you have any questions just ask, its slowly pulling me in more and more (and i dont have much time to play it, so that says a lot)

Still if you are going to stick around I'll get back into it today on the server you guys are on.
As for screenshots, I'll post some in a moment. I'll post only what my graphics settings are at instead of full blown which you can find anywhere.
What I have my settings at are minimal compaired to what can be done, though some of it is overkill and has little to no effect if increased. I also have them set so that wherever I am I won't experience lag or poor framerates, some areas can look gorgious and run great, others run like crap.
My computer specs are...
Athlon 3000+ running at 2.1GHz
1GB of PC3200 DDR
Radeon 9800 Pro/XT, clocked at near XT speed.
All screenshots are originally 1792x1344 resolution.
Here is some of Antonica(without shadows), it's a VERY big area.
i hate to say this but any MMORPG you play your going to have to do alot of killing to get leveled up. Everyone I have played you have to do some kind of exp grind, which is usually done by killing alot of badies.

I don't know, I wish they'd offer trials of their games, I don't want to pay $100 to try out WoW and EQ2 just to find out that they are pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, I love RPGs, I know there's going to be a point in all of them where all you do is level up and it sucks for a few hours, I understand that. SWG seems so just there though. There's no reason for anything it seems. It's like all you'd do is become a master in your profession and then what? Like right now, I started out as a brawler, worked my way up unarmed and became a Teras Kasi novice and now working to TK master. I'll go for Jedi afterwards, but the way it works, it takes like 6 months of solid grinding.
Like I said it can get tedious, but sometimes it's pretty fun. Sometimes you gotta go out and kill some critters, of course the good thing about the quest system is that if you recieve a quest that has you killing creatures that are higher levels than you it will turn a certain color. Like Purple, Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Green(from hard to easy). And those colors also coincide with the type of item you may get for finishing it, if it's orange you may be able to wear it but you still have some time to break it in and get full results of that item.
Which brings me to the next item I like about EQ2, items are based on your skills and levels, if you recieve an item that is for a level 10 character I believe you can wear it when you're 8, but it's best when worn when you are 10, and you can wear it when you are 12 but you may want to look for something better at that point. It varies item to item and some items are just really damned good and you can wear for a long time.
I leveled from 7 to 8 yesterday on just quests, like 90% of the experience I made was from questing and I didn't play a whole lot either. So you do get some good experience from questing, plus you get the added benefit of a good item or some good money.
Ok, well now I wanna go in and play again, cya
lol purple?? I'm sorry but I've never seen a creature con purple to me...is that like higher then a Red with ^^^??
lol just playing with ya
Anyways this is way to addicting, I've probably done over 100 quests now, completed. I just spent all night working on my Butterfly collection(which gives a nice reward Ring), and I can't find a damned Violet Spooted or Striped Butterfly(I can't remember which). But only one more bloody butterfly to get to finish off the Spotted, Striped, and Plain butterfly collection and I can get that damned ring which I probably can't use yet anyways.
I also finished off the Antonica Tour, and I finished it off at a level most can't seem to do(level 12 at the time), got a satchel that holds 10 WOOT.
I also did a few other quests, got a few cool items, some I can use some I can't. Mostly I was working off the Collection quests which are fun... I originally thought those give out furniture for your home, but not so far. But I can't wait to use this stuff, they look really bad ass.
Half way through 13 and I'd say 90% of all my leveling so far has been becuase of quests and such.
yeah everday we get a server reset. It's at like 7am PST or 10am EST. Which isn't to bad for me.
But yeah about teh collection quests, if you get any race bones (ogre, orc, half-elf, ect...) you can turn them in and get an item that will give you an illusion of that race. It's pretty cool, and if you want items for your house do Mastery Quests (Skeleton, Orc, Gnoll, ect...) that will give you a new skill which is *race* Mastery. So it's very helpful plus you get a cool item for your house. Check out some sites on the internet to find out where you can start these quests.
Incorrect. Mastery quests used to grant race mastery skills, but when beta ended this reward was removed. Race mastery skills are now given at certain levels (I just got one at 24 for example) and completing the mastery quest just gives you a trophy and a book to place in your house.
