HL2 Savegame?

I am about to reformat my system(ugh) so I am curious if there is a way I can save my savegames or something for HL2?

    yes i dont remember how but if u dont get it right i have my whole saved game. every single level!

    Copy this directory somewhere (CD, ZIP, HDD, whatever) and just move it back when you're done. I haven't actually done it (moved it back - I already backed that up), but I can't see why it wouldn't work:

    \Steam\SteamApps\[account]\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE
