XP PRO will only boot up in safe mode

Hello fellow pc geeks here's my prob
I just had a new pc (64bit sli) so i gave my old pc to my GF and i started to install XP PRO for her install all went well untill splash screen first time after installation the key board lights up (flashes ) as normal but then the screen goes blank and the hdd light stays on and nothing happends even the monitor light stays green i have removed all the pci slots and only the AGP card and the CD_ROM-dvd rom for installation i can only get into safe mode this is very puzzling to me as i have installed loads of pc's but this is the first time i have come across this :scratch: i m lost :confused: i have reformatted a few times but nothing i even changed the hdd c:\ but nothing as far as everything else goes im sure its ok but that all i know im unsure of what to do next i have even cleared cmos every time but nothing it always hangs forcing me to slap the reset button then when the system starts back up i get the
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt thingy

boot to last good known config

normal mode u all know the screen im on about well i can get into safe mode no probeblems i just wish it would boot in normal mode


CAN ANY 1 HELP ME AS MY GF IS GETTING PISSED OFF LOL

    try another single stick of RAM from another computer an see if that helps

    i think i have a prob with ram too
    do u think this could help honestly lol im not touching my new £200 ran in my sli but i do have2 sticks to play with ;)

    well RAM can be bad right off the shelf like everything else, im not sure of the compatability here but worse coems to worse it wont boot.
    your gonna have to pull the ram in it out for now an replace it with extra you may have for it to have any effect. also make sure you put it in slot 1

    asus a7n8x deluxe ver 2.00
    asus gf4200 ti 128 mb
    600watt psu
    2x256 ram 400fbs
    wd hdd 40 /seagate hdd 20gig

    well i have tried a few ram now and changed the hdd 3 times im about to change again for a new 200gig wd to see if it will boot could the cd rom stop it from booting :confused: im totaly lost now and my missus is not happy i think the mobo if gone but how would i tell if it is

    im sure its only something silly as if it was fatal then i would not be albe to get into safe mode
    :bawling: more reseach is needed and advice plz help as i paid a lot of cash for my old system and i would not like to think i have lost the mobo or the hdd's
    can any 1 give a order things to test and how to test them to find where the prob is im thinking maybe its a currupt driver maybe or something thats not letting me in to windows (normal mode)

    i have sorted it its seemed to be a faulty DVD drive that was making windows hang i unpluged the power from drive and WHOPPY****INGDOOO the bloody thing booted installed all the updates and drivers and n0w its faster them my 64bit 3.2 :( im a bit gutted but hay i can play css @ full whack ;)
