Epox 9NDA3+ at the testbench

I just got the board in the mail together with a XP-120.
Dang, the heatsink is huge!
One problem though is that it overhangs the first dimm so i have to use #3 and 4 for dual channel (board won't even post with one stick in the second) Otherwise it looks like a fine board so far except for conservative vdimm options at 2.8 max. However, the vdimm mod is dead easy though and that will be the next goal.

Anyway, i booted straight away at 280 HTT 1:1 with 2X512mb OCZ 3700 Platinum TCCD ram and still running prime. 2.7 vdimm.

Mudd, which slots do you have the dimms in? I was afraid that 3 and 4 would create problems since the MSI works best when the ram is in 1 and 2. No problems thus far so i'm happy.

Mack, I'm running my ram in slots 1 and 2, but when I first set it up I had it in 3 and 4 also and no problems at 280 HTT there either. I had read at Extreme that the 9NDA3+ boards had problems with running in 3 and 4, but maybe that was just the very early rev boards or maybe the early bios.

Damn, sorry to hear that you can't use dimm slot 1, is there any way to mod that XP120 such as trimming the bottom of the fins overhanging that slot?

I need to get some fine pomona grabbers so I can do the vdimm and vcore mods. Do you know where they sell them here in the US, Mack? I would rather use the pomona grabbers than solder on the chips; no telltale signs of modding that way if something goes wrong. ;)

The shack used to stock them as far as i know. It's the pipes that is over the dimms so modding can't be done there i'm afraid. Seems like a good cooler otherwise. Is the bios temperature anywhere near accurate? Which bios to use? I'm on the November something bios i think.
