Can I put a Sempron on this motherboard?

I'm building another folding computer, and am trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

I'll be using a DFI AZ30-TL motherboard, which has a 200/266 FSB speed.

I want to get a 2400 Athlon XP for it, but they're about $110 at the computer show this weekend.

I can get a 2600 or 2800 Sempron, but they have 333 FSB speeds.

Will a 333 Sempron work AND work well on a 200/266 FSB board? If not, what will happen? Underclocked speeds?

And is a Sempron any good for folding compared to an Athlon XP?

I think a Sempron is an Athlon XP. They just changed the name. Haven't kept up with hardware much lately though, so I could be wrong. And yes you can run it at 266FSB, it'll just be a little slower. It might not work on that board though, depending on how old it is. Best bet is to visit the manufaturer's web site and see what they have to say as far as running Semprons in that board.

From what they list there, I would say that it won't support the semprons.

Yeah, I'm thinking that it won't work.
