TV card, again.

I may have another go at a TV card. The main aim is to transfer VHS videos of the kids to DVD. What I'm wondering though is about the connection to my NTL set top box. Does anybody know how to do this? Will I get all the channels on the PC or only the one selected on the TV? I have tried phoning NTL but after pressing 273 options and listening to 134 recorded messages AND waiting for 25 minutes I got fed up.
The card I'm thinking of is the Hauppauge WINTV PVR 350 or maybe the 250.
Any advice guys?

I've sold that model (350) a few times and my customers love it. However, they do not have cable. I would drop http://www.hauppauge.co.uk an email to confirm what would be the best solution. I think it is "Cable Ready" so should pick up call your channels. When I was in a cable area I had the same request... I wanted to get all channels on my TV card. Moved before I got around to finding a solution.

The 350 is worth the extra £10/£15 I think it gives a MPEG-2 decoder and an FM radio.

Cheers pressx, I may have another go at ringing NTL today and see how's it done. I'll post their reply.

So after another 156 options, 78 recorded messages and 1 transfered call I was told, no, it can't be done. You only get the channel the STB is tunned to. I'd like to copy the videos but £100+ for a TV card that wouldn't have much functionality seems a bit pricey. I'll have to have a think.
