what are the operating temps for regular cat 5 UTP??

I want to move my main computer to my bedroom, and hook it up to my router down stairs, and i'm too lazy to run the wires, so i will just drop it outside the windows, and down to basement, and into my router, As i live in Michigan, and it will be winter soon, so i want to know if it's OK???

    -4°F to 167°F.

I'm expecting a pretty cold winter, considering that this year has been pretty mild, but I don't expect sub-zero temperatures that much.

My CAT-5 cable worked fine in Maine for several years. I ran it out a bottom floor window up to a second floor system. Temps ranged from Mid 90s in the summer to -10F in the depths of winter.

The cold will improve the conductivity of the copper though only by a miniscule ammount, It's the insulation that suffers from cold, It goes hard and brittle, The UV in sunlight will do the same thing after a few years.

    bothered.
