Quick F@H help...

edited January 2005 in Folding@Home
I was looking at tim's thread about large work units and I need a little help quickly.

First of all my client.cfg has changed for some unknown reason and I havn't recieved any big WU's...only 241 point WU's.

This is what client.cfg gives:

[settings]
machineid=1
local=20

[http]
active=no

Whats gone wrong?

Thanks

    Is that your entire client.cfg file?
    Are you using the same client.cfg as always or did you reconfigure when you set up 502? If so then reconfigure.

    well ...
    try stopping the client
    delete the client.cfg
    reconfigure
    restart the client

    post your client.cfg then.

    What do you mean Reconfigure? How do I do that? :scratch:

    Thanks

    I should have said reconfigure by restarting the client.
    what will happen after you delete the client.cfg and restart is that FAH502 will no longer see the client.cfg and will therefore want to create one ...it will go thru the configuration process for you.

    So basically my instructions were out of order ...it should be:

    stop the client
    delete the client.cfg
    restart the client
    reconfigure

    Thanks for the correction.

    - I stoped the client
    - Deleted client.cfg
    - Tried to Start the client but got an error message (cant remembe what it said)
    - Rebooted the computer and this is the new client.cfg:

    [settings]
    username=Anonymous
    team=0
    asknet=no
    machineid=1

    [http]
    active=no
    host=localhost
    port=8080
    usereg=no

    Thanks

    Dude - try it again. You just set yourself to "anonymous" and Team "0"!!!!!!!

    When the config screen comes up make sure you put in all the info. Be careful here - lot's of people end up with a typo in their username and wonder where all their points went. It's Team 93, of course. :D

    Post the log again when you're done. :thumbsup:

    ok, I think we got a good client.cfg :cool:

    [settings]
    username=trogan_1000
    team=93
    asknet=no
    bigpackets=no
    machineid=1

    [http]
    active=no
    host=localhost
    port=8080
    usereg=no

    I wrote Trogan in lower case. Is that ok?

    Now, about big WU's...client.cfg has changed 'bigpackets' from Yes to No, can I change it back to 'YES'? Also, the biggest WU points i've recieved are 241. What happened to 60 points.

    Thanks :):thumbsup:

    Just make sure it is an exact match to what you had before, otherwise Stanford will see you as a completely different person.

    Yes, just edit the file in Notepad and save the changes. You can fix your username that way too, if need be.

    One thing to keep in mind is that Stanford varies the WU's being sent out for a number of different reasons. You (and all the rest of us, for that matter) may receive a non-bigpackets style WU at any time, even if everything is set up correctly. In the long run, having it set as "Yes" will get you more of them, though.

    I think you have to have -admethods on to get large units as well as bigpackets set to yes in the config.

    Are you running FAH as a service?

    Thank You prof and Csimon. I know what i'm doing now :D

    I've already added -admethods before. That part's been done :thumbsup:

    ...and yea, i'm running FAH as a service :)

    Thanks again

    Nothing was wrong with the first config file. If you dont actively enter information and just press enter to the default option, it wont enter anything in the cfg file. If you enter the same thing as default it will place that info into the cfg file. Its just the way it works.
