Microsoft To Axe Windows 2000 Security Upgrades

edited January 2005 in Science & Tech
Microsoft has confirmed that there will be no equivalents of its Windows XP Service Pack 2 to boost security on earlier operating systems.
The announcement leaves the 50 per cent of Microsoft customers not currently using XP with the choice of upgrading or relying on platforms that will become increasingly less secure.
Bad move MS. Win 2000 is a very good OS sharing the same kernel as XP. It would be a shame not to support that OS with security updates.

I wish Linux devs would get their heads out of their asses and make it easier a la OSX, or that Apple would make an X86 version of OSX. I can't believe that in all these years no one has beenable to challenge MS on X86. I mean come on, the Roman empire fell, Nintendo isn't on top anymore. When is someone going to really compete with MS?
