What can I say?
The motherboard in the kids PC blew up so I dashed down to micro direct and got an NF7s. Fitted it, switched on and got the siren. Eventually I tried another CPU and it wouldn't even start. I tried everything, spent Hours on it. Dashed down to MD again and got another CPU and picked Shorty up on the way back. We approched the offending beast and as I was fitting the new CPU Shorty said "why isn't that 12v connector connected?" "what 12v connector?" "That one, it has to be plugged in here"
Oh the shame, I don't remember my other NF7s having one of those.
Lesson. Never overlook the blindingly obvious.
Thanks Dan.

As far as I remember though the 12v 4 plug connector didn't have to be connected in order for the board to boot. Maybe Abit changed it on later versions

Hats off to shorty for helping you out.
That being the case, spill the beans Prof.
