Everquest 2 tradeskill help!

OK I don't even know for sure if this is a tradeskill question, the so called guides I find online only seem to confuse me even more on this. I don't even know where to start asking questions on them, so I'll start it off as easy as I can.

I have like 6 recipes in my so called recipe book, I just found this stuff so I thought I'd give it a try. I wanted to start by making Black Coffee. Which the recipe states needs Black Coffee Beans(which I gathered already), Liquid, and Fuel. I don't know about the liquid and fuel, but I am pretty sure I buy those at a merchant somewhere. I've been inside of those areas where you backe or sew or whatever it is you want to call it, but that was back when the game first came out, and I haven't played it much sence(let's just say I am a complete noob, all I know is bashing monsters).

But here lies the biggest problem of all, I cannot get into these places, When I try to talk to someone nearby the entrances they say something ****ty like "I cannot allow you to join". I do not belong to any society.

I don't know what the hell I am doing, so I don't even know how to explain it all. I just want to give this stuff a try. Maybe learn to make armor or weapons later on. What do I need to do?

I'd like to try to do something tonight if I can.

I kind of figured it out, I joined a Society... but it was odd that still one would say no, and then the next would let me and it was for the same place I think. Dunno, either way, I went to Qeynos Harbor, talked to a guy at the harbor inside the boat building place and he asked if I wanted to be a Craftsman, Scholar, or Outfitter; I chose Craftsman for my own reasons... such as that I am sure everyone and their mommy wants to be an outfitter so they can make themselves awsome clothes. I like to build furniture, useless, but neat. And I can build other stuff as well, I just can't remember off hand.

On that note, it's sleepy time.

Yeah you can only join certain societys after you become a profession. Like I'm a scholar so I can go into the scholar society.

lvl 1-9 go to the artisan crafthouse, 10+ you get to go to a specialized crafthouse. theres 2 merchants inside the crafthouse, ones a strait merchant that sells you basic items for crafting such as all the fuels for using stations(ex. chem tables use candle for fuel) as well as selling more pages of recipies that you can learn as you lvl, the second merchant is a broker that lets you buy supplies from characters in the game that are currently in merchant mode. The recipie scrolls that you buy from the broker start in the artisan crafthouse with 3-9, an artisan lvl 3 can learn artisan recipies scroll 3... an lvl 4 person can learn a artisan recipie scroll 4 and so on. When you go to your next crafthouse for lvl 10+ there will be the same 2 merchants and the store merchant will sell recipie scrolls that you can learn as you progress as well. I dont know if you knew about this but ill tell you anyways, in your knowledge book(K) you can select the tradeskills tab. there are a set of spells that you can cast on yourself to counter misteaks you make will crafting to help you complete better quality products, there are 3 spells for each type of crafting and you will learn 3 more for your specialized tradekill... craftsman in your case.
