Just finished assembling my first build but now the computer will not power up. Any ideas on what may be causing this? I have double and triple checked all connections according to the motherboard manual and all seems to be where it should. Since the power supply isn't coming on am I right to think this is a bad power supply? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

if nothing at all comes on then either
    A) you dont have the Power Sw header connected properly or
    B) your PSU is not supplying any power or
    C) your CPU may be dead or
    D) your motherboard may be shorted...

You can check the psu real easy. Use a short piece of wire and jumper the green lead on the psu/motherboard header to the black on either side. This is on the psu header going into the motherboard. Do this with it UN-ATTACHED to the mb. You are attaching wires ONLY to the psu header! The atx header that attachs to the MB! Nothing is attached to the mb your only testing the psu !

It maaaaaaayyyyyyy be the psu but if you haven't done this a bunch it's more common to just jumper the case's power switch wrong or have a bad switch if nothing happens. Use a screwdriver to touch the leads to turn it on.

Use a screwdriver not the switch and MAKE SURE you are shorting the right jumpers. I say this as I have helped tons of experianced friends that had the switch connected to the wrong jumpers. It's easy to do.

Link the MB manual here for a reality check.

when you say jumper you mean the pins on the motherboard? They are correctly placed but not sure which pin is + and which is -.

I've got lit led's for HDD and power. But the computer is still non functional. It won't power up when i hit the power button.

Make sure your power connectors are in correctly too BTW. I had the first problem...the physical power button was not connected to the correct jumpers and thus the power was not reaching the button itself.

And if all else fails, get an Antec PSU.

All connections are correct at this point in time. I am going to try a new psu and then go from there.
