Very nice, 1m takes me 43 seconds. Well, not me personally but my rig...I think you knew that, shutting up now... :wtf:

The superpi score is rather bad actually at that speed, but it's a stability test to be able to complete the 32mb test. I'm folding at the speed right now :D

For some reason the 32m test won't run on mine, could be an issue with the software but I run 2 instances of superpi and run 2x16m and finish in 23:10...wish the 32m would run.

What does it say when you run it?
  • edited January 2005
I was trying to run 2 instances simultanious and it would allocate memory then stop responding, I ran one instance and it ran fine...I guess I don't have enough ram to run 2 instances. BTW, it took 38 minutes.

Wow, fantastic. I'm currently in the market for a winchester as well, I've heard the week 48 and Week 50 chips are doing really well. Any other stepping recommendations Mackanz?

A little off topic, for that I apologize, but what makes the difference in the week production? Is it dependant on where it was manufactured, changes in architecture of the chip itself, a combination of both, or neither?

Generally, the yield is much better on later production dates. And the silicon gets better with age actually.

What is the yield of a chip?

    Sorry. :o

How many chips they can fab from a single wafer of silicon.

I picked up a Amd 64 3200+ 939 yesterday and Msi Neo2 with the via chipset. How do I find out what week it was made like Macanz did? Also what would be a good heatsinkfan for this I do plan on overclocking.

The only way to view the stepping is on the acutal heatspreader on the cpu. A good heatsink is basically the biggest you can have there. XP-90 by thermalright is a good heatsink that practically fits all S939 boards as far as i know. I have the XP-120, but it's to big and hangs over the ramslots.

Ive got an MSI motherboard and use the CoreCenter program that came with it to monitor my cpu temps and all. How accurate/reliable is this??

Useless i'm afraid. I could never get a grip on the application and i uninstalled it immediatley.

Any suggestions to what I should get in its place or how do I go about getting an accurate temp ?

Someone else mentioned it took up a lot of CPU time as well. Not a good thing. Sisoft Saundra might be able to do it correctly.
