error when downloading off net

asking this for a mate...

he is running xp with IE and everytime he tries to download something ie lime wire or a bit torrent client he gets the page cannot be found thing, where if i go to the same link i can download on my pc, anyone got any quick fix solutions?

    Can he download from regular webpages etc via ie?

    Had a similar problem and couldn't download even from regular web pages when i had a corrupted XP Service package 2 update. Had to do a repair install from Win XP disc

    Don't use m$ie. problem solved :D

    Try Firefox, see if the same problem occurs. It's free so worth a try.
