I just loaded FarCry on my new machine, which is equiped with a BFG 6800 Ultra OC. It's like a completely new game!

I had played it on my old machine with its Ti 4600, it looked OK, not nearly as good as it does now.

Anyway, I was wondering if y'all have heard and rumors or scuttlebutt about CryTek coming out with a new game. Can't find much info anywhere.

Yup! They are releasing an expansion for FarCry soon. I think its called FistAlpha or something, with more focus on multiplay.

I hope they've not only killed, but previously molested every voice-actor/script-writer that they used in the original FarCry...
I loaded it up last week, and tried to play it...OMG it was BAAAD.
The level design even made me think that going outside, and riding a tricycle down the interstate would be more fun...
(Maybe HL2 has just spoiled me...who knows)

I think they roped in Serious Sam to do the main character's voice parts :D

Apart from the script, I think Far Cry's almost on level pegging with HL2.

I also think it's bloody hard.

I just finished on Normal, took me forever. Odd to think that the last two words said in the game are (and no, this is not a spoiler) 'Stupid Bastard'.

    No :D

I was really enjoying Far Cry up to about the last part of the 'Archive' level.

After that there were lots of parts that were incredibly frustrating, I played many scenes over and over and over because there's no quick save.

In fact, I can't see me going back to Far Cry in the near Future, I want something a little more fun right now. I may go back to Pain Killer, as it happens, and give that another go, I didn't get too far with it first time around.

I liked Far Cry, but the bottom line is it was too hard. I was in the US Army, I scored 36 out of 40 on my shooting test in basic training, I was in the Infantry. The problem is that the NPCs react like real people do, which is fine but you are robbed of your peripheral vision. That's not fair. I look forward to the days of wrap around displays for 3d games, or something similar. Hell, Far Cry would be awesome to play once we get to the point of no longer needing monitors at all and we're using neural implants to watch TV, movies, and play video games. I'm sure we'll die of cancer from the wireless connection to our brain and all, but come on people, imagine closing your eyes and all of a sudden you're whisked away to City 17 and you're Gordon Freeman, or to Mars to fight Hell itself, or to whatever that island is called in Far Cry. You could be Master Chief and fight the covenant. I'm sure this type of technology is only a few years away, and I guarantee it won't cost an arm and a leg as it will most likely be subsidized in part by the movie, music and game industries as this would obviously be the ultimate way to turn on, tune in, and drop out.

Sorry to go completely off-topic on you there, I just write what flies through my head ;D

FarCry is one of my favorite games EVAR.... for a few specific reasons...

1.) Graphics, Better than Doom3, UT2004 or the rest of the competition for that matter (barring the source engine anyway)

2.) Multi LAN Play is quite fun, do to the beautiful graphix, and you have to admit the guns available in the game are a lot of fun. The Michette is quite effective.

However single play sucked due to the following:

1.) monsters... WTF why take a realistic game, and throw in monsters? That is so ghey.

2.) Yea, the level design was kind of bad on some of the levels.

Lets not forget that this was the first game CryTek ever released. I would say that is one hell of a debut. Asside from some minor complaints, it was very solid. The CryTek engine is superb.

I too eagerly await any upcoming projects this little company can put out.

Personally I wish that BFV used the crytek engine. That would be sweet. Hopefully they can deliver that type of gameplay (drivable helicopters n stuff) in the exppansion.

    My 2 cents.
