Deleted Bridge.dll...

My NAV detected 4 ad-ware viruses. It deleted 3 of them but it could bot delete Bridge.dll. So, I went into Safe Mode and manually deleted the file and now when windows loads up I get an error stating that it cannot find Bridge.dll.

This is what NAV found...

The file C:\WINDOWS\system32\bridge.dll is a Adware threat

What should I do?

Thanks

Open notepad, and copy the information in the box.

IMPORTANT - for some reason, the formatting here is making the word "CurrentVersion" appear as

    "Curr entVersion"

(with a bunch of spaces in the word current). Ensure you join up the word "Current" BEFORE saving!
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Run]
    "RunDLL"=-

Then, save as bridge-repair.reg (make sure you change the Save As Type from .txt to All Files), and then right-click that .reg file and choose Merge. Tell it yes to merge it in, and then you should be all set.

I don't have notepad for some reason, could I use Wordpad?

    Thanks for your help :)

you need to use a program that has the "save as" option as "all files" - wordpad doesnt do this.

are you sure you dont have notepad??

    click START / RUN

    and type notepad.exe

and see if it comes up.

Btw please ensure you follow the edit above with regards to the words "CurrentVersion"!

Dunno if you can help but why did NAV say Bridge.dll was an adware threat?

Is that file safe or not?

The first was NAV finding it and detecting what it was, the second part was telling Windows to delete its entry in registry so your computer would not think it was needed but missing. I have not seen a bridge.dll that is legit, but have seen a bridge.exe for a bridge game. SO, since windows now works, would say it was not a good file for windows exactly as given by NAV.

Someone might want to explain why windows did not allow NAV to kill it if Trogan_1000 asks, but I will not go so far as to explain exactly right now (has to do with kind of registry key used).
