Request For Recovery Disks
I bought a used Toshiba laptop 2590CDT Satellite, model No. PRS259U-B (6 gb). It ran well until I attempted to download Service Pack 4 and additional Windows updates, then it slowed and soon froze. A friend of a friend offered to fix it for me. I do not have the recovery disks. It ran Windows 2000 XP Pro but now I guess the operating system is deleted along with everything else. The Toshiba company does not have the recovery disks to sell me. I understand he did something called "reformatting."
It never occurred to me that the laptop might have been stolen until I read a suggestion of that possibility on this very forum. Thinking it through, no I didn't know the fellow well, but based on what little I know of him (he is a business professional), I seriously doubt the laptop was stolen.
What are my options??
