cannot enter windows

Hi there!!

So far I have been enjoying the Help! Spyware! Forum and it has helped me very much, thanks to Buckeye_Sam! After he helped me clean up my messy computer he asked me to get rid of the odl system restore points as they still contain spyware etc. But before I want to delete all my system restore points there's another problem I have to face: I have one harddisk on my computer which has been divided into a C-drive and a D-drive by a friend of mine. That is, because one has a Japanese version of Windows (I bought my laptop in Japan, and I'm a student of Japanese language and culture)(so I do understand most of it) and the other drive (D-drive) has the English version of Windows XP running on it cause that is easier than the Japanese one of course. So, well, the problem with my computer started within the English Windows running and it has come this far that when I try to log on (while I had turned logging on, off: one didn't need to log on before entering Windows), so when it asks you to log on and you click on either one of the users, it logs you on and logs you off immediately afterwards, before even getting to see something of a desktop. The same thing happens when you try to enter the Safe Mode. I just saw in the Program Files folder of the D-drive, there's not only ISTSVC but also Webrebates, Internet Optimizer, Windows AdControl if no more. But being unable to access in any way the D-drive I cannot do anything. But, if someone could be so kind to help me fix that, I would love to delete all system restore points, but to my knowledge that might be the only possibility to get back into this English version of Windows on the D-drive. If not, I will delete those files immediately. But well, anyway, if you could maybe give me any hint on whatsoever I would be very delighted. I have entered some D-drive files and deleted most of the most apparent Spywares and Adwares, but of course that isn't enough. I had Norton Internet Security installed on it, but I think you've heard before that Norton doesn't do the trick to protect you (at all I would say). So, well, please, could somebody help me fix this? Or help me get rid of this D-drive, that wouldn't be too bad either, it actually doesn't matter to me how to fix this, it is just very annoying that I cannot enter it whatsoever. Thanks for listening to me and trying to help me beforehand!! I really appreciate that people like you exist: you're the best!

Best regards,
Heleen Palmen

    Hi!

First of all: thanks for helping me!! And then the answer to your question: yes, I tried to "use last known good configuration", but it wasn't as good as I hoped it would have been :wtf:
And about your second reply: do I understand it right that if I insert the first of the 4 windows xp disks into my computer so it (re)boots or how-do-you-call-it and there will be an option "erase D:disk" this D-disk will be removed, but what will happen to all the files on it? Will they be written into the C-disk or will they be lost? It is the easiest option to delete the whole thing of course... but well. So, thanks again and I hope to hear from you again ;)

    Greetings,
