I had picked up a virus because my dumbass allowed a pop-up temp.

I havent noticed anything wrong with my computer but dont like the feeling of knowing I have a virus.

Im running Ad-Aware and Norton Virus and also HiJack.

So far 7 virus were found and quarantined... How do I get this off my computer?
3 of the 7 are zip files.

I know the location of all the viruses, couldnt I just delete them that way?

There located in a folder called...
Application Data/Sun/Java/Deployment/cache/javapi..etc.

I tried to clean them with Norton and it said I couldnt.

Also... the virus is a trojan called...ByteVerify

I've run into the same problem. I've looked all over the web for answers and it seems that deletion is the key.

Many sites tell ppl to delete everyhting in the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\$USERNAME$\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache

I'm no profesional at this so dont take my word for it (even if it is more than a year after your post).


This is actually the second time in a week I've been infected with this "exploit." This time, and last time, I simply deleted the mal-files. To make sure this doesn't happen again, we're supposed to stop Java from caching files. I've looked for the "cach tab" on the java control pannel on my computer and it's not there, dont know about everyone else's. So I dont know what to do to make it "secure" forever. Any Ideas?
