Wireless Monitors?

I wish I could buy a laptop, but I don't have the 2 grand I need to buy the kind I need. However my desktop is just fine.

I currently have a wireless keyboard and mouse that I can take anywhere in my living room, dunno about the rest of the apartment. But if there was SOME WAY to have a monitor I could feasibly carry around with me, an LCD for example, then I could potentially increase the amount of work I do when I am home.

I know you guys are very smart, and if one of these don't exist, then maybe we could come up with a method to make one? It could still be wired, but more mobile than a 50lbs CRT.

I'm willing to spend some money to help out, and in the end we could put up a guide or something that could allow others this same nifty toy.

Also, I am curious if there is some way to boost the strength of my mouse, appearently it cannot actually reach as far as I though, but it's close. Just an added curiosity :)

Why not stuff a 15" LCD in a laptop bag?

What I want to be able to do is work on my "work" on my couch, instead of being forced to sit at my desktop for hours on end killing my back and neck.

The couch is much more comfortable, and is only at most 10ft away from my desktop. I can easily use my keyboard and mouse there, but I cannot see my monitor well at that distance to do my work. I don't know if there is some kind of distance limitation to how long a monitor cable can be either.

I found the above, and it seems interesting, though I am having a hard time finding a price on it, I don't see it at newegg and I looked it up on google and only got 3 pages of results, but they seemed to be reviews and crap. Though I do have a decent idea.

But it seems to be a tablet PC and not a wireless monitor. But it says it opens applications and such remotely, do you think running 3Ds Max from one of these would be ok?

I think it wouldn't be able to handle 3DSMax if your life depended on it.

If I bought a LCD Flat panel Display, is there a limit to how long the cable is? Also, do you know of any cables that would allow me to use the Monitor 10ft or so away from the PC?

i don't think monitor cable longer than 10 ft would be any problem.

in college, they do it all the time,. running the cable from to projector to the table thing where prof come in and plug in their laptop and BAM, there is the video on the screen from the projector.

Then that's what I'll do, I'll buy a CRT later when I get my bills paid :P

Also, anyone know how to boost the signal of a Wireless Mouse? A Logitech mouse.

How about location free tv from Sony? Very pricey (1000-1500$) at the moment, but may drop with more competition.

I'd buy a laptop for that price :)

If I can find a half decent job, I'll be ok, I could then get a Laptop and have no more problems.

I have wanted to do something similar too, but I was thinking more along the lines of a couch mod. I would somehow attach a slide out metal arm to the side of my couch that could be folded away flush when not in use. I was thinking about adapting a desktop mountable monitor arm, but they are usually too big and bulky for my liking. I want something like those old wooden school desks that has a fold out writing surface.

Or you could try finding an old laptop lcd on ebay for cheap and integrate that into another piece of furniture like a coffee table or ottoman. You will need to figure out some sort of way to convert the laptop's lcd to regular VGA. Anybody here know how to accomplish this?

I have connected 2 video cables together from a ps2 kvm, without going through the switch. Though they were the 1.8m ones, worked ok.

What about a 3m (10ft) usb kvm cable? Might be able to connect your monitor and kb/mouse receiver onto it?

Should that work, maybe a 1.8m and a 3m one hooked together to stay within the max of 5m for usb.

    Just a thought. :)

Wireless AV transmitter/receivers are always composite for signal. No SVGA wireless send.
