well I think that takes care of the major problems.
I just have some files in my windows folder that I'm not sure if i nee dthem or not.
I don't know of a quick way to copy the names of the files though.
and i can't figure out how to get rid of all those past icons in my taskbar settings.

As far as the Windows files, they're probably ok. But one way you can check is do a Google search on the name of the file and see what comes up. Another way is to right click on the file, select Properties, click on the Version tab, and review the info there. If it's Microsoft or another name that you recognize it's legit. after I deleted those, I could not open some of my favorites, or my e-mail.
I restored the computer to an earlier time today.
when it rebooted. a prompt from windows was there about my desktop being changed. I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what it said.
it had options to make changes. this is what I did:
right click - select properties - desktop - customize - web - and uncheck the entry there which was titled security.
my picture has returned
prior to that restore, I was not able to right click and pull up properties.
one thing I see now is that the other users on here still get the prompts concerning inetdata.exe.
windows cannot find.....
windows can't open....
I don't get those, but they are.
is there a way to clean past items from the list when you open taskbar and click on customize?
it's a list of icons
