Sometime yesterday, all the puters went off-line. Generally this is no big issue as Sally has always managed to sort the network problem and get us back on. This time it's different. Lots of checks, trying things different ways has not fixed up the problem getting the farm back on-line.

This appears to happen on a weekend when nobody can fix problems out of our control. We believe it is either the line to the exchange or the exchange itself.

Have to wait till tomorrow (monday) before we can talk to the phone company to check it out.

As the WU's finish, all i can do is shut down that computer. I've shut down 3 sofar, with more not too far away. The only 2 puters able to go dial-up are our 2 notebooks. At this point in time Sally's is being set up with a new H/D, so it's out off action, leaving mine as the only online access. Even as i type this post, the line keeps dropping out and re-connecting @ 24-31 kbps. Absolutely shocking speeds.

Thought about getting an external modem, but it's not worth the hassle.

Just though i would give you guys an insight as to why our points will look totally weird.

Jon

I bet I know what the problem is - you guys wore out the line sending all those chunky WU's in at such a dizzying rate. :D

Hope they get it straightened out for you soon. :)

When it's out of your hands, it's out of your hands. I know that one with my intermittant connection since I moved :(

Wow, that room is gonna be the coldest it's been in ages ;D

Clean out dust bunnies or try some overclocking while you are waiting to get back online ;D:cool::thumbsup:

    WooHoo..........back online again today.

Still not sure if it's permanent or not. Got help from our ISP, but had to wait till today as it had to be a tech 2. Got the telephone linesman coming around tomorrow. See what he can find. Dial up should be around 45-48 kbps, not 19.2.

It was a long hard slog to get past witenoiz and he got to within 260 points of us. That was till the adsl was fixed. :) Sorry Jack. Still good fun though.

Prof, might have to try for a teflon coated line. See if that can keep up the pace. :D

Shorty, did a few dust bunnies though fortunately the puters aren't too bad.

Donut.............we got a "Get well soon" card from the power company. They are worried they may have to put some people off due to the profit loss.

    ;D

Yet another reason to build a Folding farm - it can really make an impact on the economy. :D

We kept them running as long as possible and it made for an interesting day. :D Pity it's a "one off".

Looks like the next few days will be very lean as it takes some days to crunch the new ones they finally managed to pick up.
