I'm looking for a low cost AMD CPU. I just posted a topic in the Emergency help section. I've got a VA-10 system that doesn't like its Duron 1100. It works great on my 2500 Bartoncore CPU, but not on the 1100 Duron I got for it. Even though the 1100 Duron works great when installed in my 2500 Bartons' NF7 computer system!

The Abit VA-10 motherboard supports 200/266/333 FSB processors.

So anyone got a Duron or Athlon they don't need? Socket 462 / Socket A. I'm not too concerned about the speed as long as it's at least 1.1 Ghz or faster. An unlocked multiplier or 1.5 Ghz+ would be nice but is not really required.

This system will be tested for a week or 2 at 100% folding load then sold locally IF I can ever give it a combination of parts it's happy with.

I've got a DFI AZ30-TL motherboard for sale. It's supposed to be a replacment for an Emachines T2200 computer.

It's almost new (a few days of use on it), but it's not working right. I don't know if it's a BIOS problem or the board is just plain a POS.

It ran long enough to get Windows 2000 Pro loaded up and running fine. Then after the second day it started going to the blue screen on me. By the third day all it would do it boot to the desktop, shut off, and repeat for as long as you would let it go.

I downloaded a BIOS revision to a floppy disk, but that didn't seem to do anything. I have no idea if I did it right or not. I THINK I did, but who knows?

So if anyone wants to play around with this thing and maybe get it working, here it is. If it can be made to work it would make a good cheap system to get on the internet with.

$15.00 plus UPS shipping costs, or a straight trade for a 1.1 Ghz (or faster) AMD Socket 462 / Socket A processor in good working condition.

And if trading a CPU, I'll pay the shipping on the motherboard within the continental United States.

I just figured out what my problem was - I need to get a CPU that has an operating voltage compatible with an Abit VA-10 motherboard. My 1100 Duron wasn't on the list, but my 2500 Barton was.

That 1000 Duron isn't on the list.

1.4 and 1.6 Durons are on the list, as are 1.0 Thunderbirds, 1900 and 2000 Palominos, 1700 and 2100 Thoroughbred As, 2000, 2200, 2600, 2700 Thoroughbred Bs. and Barton 2500's.

Also supported are 900 Duron Spitfires, but I want to stay above 1 Ghz.

Anyone got any of these for sale CHEAP? I have a good working 1100 Duron Morgan to trade! ;)

Well, I learned something here. Much more research is needed when buying a motherboard and CPU seperately.

I got a 1.6 Ghz Duron on eBay. This thing had better work this time!

It works great now. I took the stock 133 FSB / 1602 Mhz Duron to 1710 Mhz by raising the FSB to 142. I may try and jack it up some more soon.
