What you're describing is often referred to as the menu bar. It's not possible to change the order of the items listed in each of the drop-down boxes.

On the other hand, it is possible to customize (change the order of, add, or remove items) the tool bar, which is just below the menu bar (the bar with icons for navigating back and forward through websites). Right click the bar and select customize.

I hope that helps to some extent. Good luck.

You could ask Microsoft for the IE source, then modify and recompile it yourself... maybe if you ask real nice... :)

Otherwise, andfitchandyou is correct, nothing can be done. :(

You are able to do stuff like this in Office aplications, however. I do lots of customizing to my menus in Word and FrontPage

They let you customize menus in Office applications because they're more complex programs then browsers and people have very specific tasks. So to be able to tailor it to their particular needs is extremely beneficial.

I dislike how Microsoft likes to hide rarely used commands. It’s supposed to help keep things neat but I think it’s just cumbersome. They use the technique in MS Office, the start menu and they even hide inactive programs in the system tray. You can turn these features off, so I’m not complaining.
