<i>"Here is another commonly used benchmark Quake 3 Demo 001 (1024x768x32) that you can use to gauge the performance of AMD K8 3100. The benchmark is done using Tyan Radeon 9700Pro with 1 x 512M Corsair XMS3500C2. Drivers used Catalyst 3.2 (7.84)."</i>

IMHO Quake 3 isn't a worthy benchmark. 358 fps?! They should something more demanding or atleast newer like UT2K3.

Q3A Benchmarks have a history against which you can check many (past) systems

And CPU Power is still CPU power!

That's an 844 (That means for eight processor servers, bub).

    Try looking up a 244, or even a 144.

The Athlon64 will be something like the 14x series Opterons... for single processor systems.

/me gets itchy for a new system... :eek2:

but the opteron is for servers, A64 will cost less, IIRC, I've seen prices on it, the hisghest priced A64 at launch will cost like $500 tops. still out of my price range, but compares favorably to the pee4

I just bought a 144 + Asus SK8N for $684.99. Perhaps I could have gone with a 142, but for some reason I wanted top of the line :D
