The VIA KT600 possesses performance very comparable to the Nforce 2, winning it in some areas while losing in others. The chipset itself is also very overclockable, but how far it can go will have to depend on how well your PCI devices and AGP card takes to the overclocked bus speed. This is all due to the lack of locked PCI and AGP bus speeds which the Nforce 2 possesses. Since most overclocked Nforce 2 users hang around the region of 225 Mhz FSB, the KT600 should be able do that for most users without running other devices heavily out of specifications.
The KT600 is a good solution for those who are only interested in running stock speeds. However, it is not easy for an overclocker to pick a KT600 board over an Nforce 2 board unless it is priced significantly lower or if he/she likes to try out something different. The Nforce 2 is not a whole lot better, just a little bit, but that locked AGP/PCI does sway the balance. I’ve had no problems with the overclocked AGP/PCI on my board, if anything, it speeds things up. However, this just seems to be a taboo for many of the others out there. That is bad news for VIA, but a fight-back with pricing and improved performance is still possible.
