Trojan-Gen (UPX!)

yesterday, i left my room, and i came back with a nice greeting from Avast saying i have a virus, Win32:Trojan-Gen (UPX!). i don't know what i did, but i moved it it the Chest. i found it in the Windows folder, and then deleted it. i woke up this morning, and had another message saying it found the virus again! now its in the System Volume Information folder, which i don't know where that is. please help me so this doesn't keep happening! heres my HJT log:

it looks fine to me, and if the virus only messes up Internet Explorer, then i don't care because i use Mozilla.

Flush your system restore, this will delete any restore points that you have but it will also make sure that any malware hiding in system restore will be booted off.

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on and create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a
restore point" and click the Next button.

Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After
cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

thanks, i'll give that a try. why would i have to make a system restore point thought?

You don't have to.... you can skip that step. It's just a good idea to make a new restore point once you are clean. If you find out that you are not clean, just follow the same steps to flush it again.
