Canon v. Sony compatibility issues?
I am shooting a project on my Canon XL-1 and reviewing the tapes on a borrowed Sony GV-D1000 deck. On playback, the picture is pixelized and the sound is choppy. Everything is in SP mode using a new tape. Are there intrinsic compatibility issues or is this more likely a head cleaning or a tape issue? Is one brand of tape better for this combination? The owner of the deck says that he has no such problems with it, but all of his cameras are Sony's.
