Changing Windows Logon Procedure

edited February 2005 in Science & Tech
Questions:
What do I need to open up to change the default Windows Logo to a picture or pictures that I want??
What do I need to open up to change the color of the moving blue stripe that tells me it is processing the bootup??
What do I need to learn in order to understand .ini .sys autoexec.bat type files that tell the computer how to boot??

I've other questions but I'll ask them later.. Thanks for your time

better yet for the boot screen www.themexp.org

the autoexec file although not really used since 98 allows the computer to execute dos parameters needed for windows before windows loads. anything u put in the autoexec.bat will execute OUTSIDE of windows in a DOS enviorment.

for the most part INI, and SYS files are NOT to be tampared with, btu if u wanna look at them and turn stuff off in the INI and SYS files that windows uses to load,
click start -> Run -> msconfig

i strongly recomend that u use google to tell you what each entry is before you go tweaking it around.

Way awesome art there for XP.. Too bad I use 2000 Pro..

But just from the comments here I now realize I need to utilize the power of Google more often.

Personally I have an interest in learning how to customize Windows as far as I can before needing to have the super secret compiler.

Do I have to learn VB or C+ for the nitty gritty stuff??

    You're welcome.

you can edit your ini files and autoexec thru msconfig ...you'll probably have to dload it for win2k tho.

I just turn my guiboot off so I go straight to windors w/out all the bs.
