Winlogonpc.exe

My offspring have managed to have this little bugger installed on our PC. I've looked at a number of the fixes listed in various threads however none of them seem to fix this variant.

Task manager automatically closes after a few seconds and I get ActiveX error messages.

Also, I’ve been using ad-Aware 6.0 (paid for) with Norton Antivirus for quite some time. It’s obvious that this combination is no longer sufficient and I would appreciate any suggestions on additional protection to fend off the spyware these kids find so easily.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Let's get you cleaned up first and then we'll talk prevention. Be sure to either disable Adaware Adwatch or allow the changes that Hijackthis will make.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

    Ebates
    Web Offers
    Web Rebates
    TV Media

Download and run this tool to remove TV Media.

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Place a checkmark next to these entries, close all browsers and windows, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking Fix Checked:
