I just finished a tutorial for JustBASIC

Hello there,

I have just done a tutorial for JustBASIC, and is that the only BASIC type I will need or is QBASIC different, or is it better or what's going on here?

Also what would be a good language to go onto next. XP doesn't support 16 bit, and I have the discs for freeBSD so should I dual boot that and use that to program or just stick with using compilers until I get into PhP or something.

Thanks,
Alex

I don't know anything about basic, and since you mentioned php.... I figure you're interested in it. If you don't really know it already, try it out.

I REALLY recommend a book called "PHP Game Programming" by Matt Rutledge. You'll get to build Tic Tac Toe, then Chess, and before you know it, your own MMO. I've gone through it twice, but becuase I didn't keep up with anything I quickly forgot it. Going through it now again, this time to try and stay caught up.

Depends on what you like to know though, I have gotten quite fond of Lingo for Director. Make some kick ass Shockwave games, 2D or 3D. It's relativly easy to learn too, has verbose and syntax versions, but newer versions require more syntax becuase it's getting more complex.

These both sound very interesting. I am interested in game design and creating some shockwave games seems like a good waste of time if I get bored.

Thanks for the help, I'll defenitly be looking into that PHP book, though I was always under the assumption that C/C++/C# was a must to really understand any language.

    Thanks,
    Alex

I'd say learn other languages first, C/C++/C# might be easier to learn afterwards.
