scotty, is your processor a mobile XP2500 or is it a desktop XP2500, because there is no such thing as an MP2500, which would be a dually proc. If it's a mobile proc, you can simply change the multiplier in bios to a higher number and overclock more without having to increase the fsb speed, but if it's a locked desktop proc you will basically be stuck at whatever fsb speed your ram can run reliably at. Also, you can run the ram asynchronously at a lower speed than the fsb and overclock the proc more, but you will incur a performance penalty due to the ram not running in synch with the fsb.

Grayfox, your little crappy post doesn't help him out a bit. If you don't have anything worthwhile to post on a subject, then keep your witticism's out of the Overclocking forum. Maybe you can afford to just go out and buy new stuff all the time but most people can't. :shakehead

What happened to tweaking the existing gear? Granted, the memory isn't the best, but there are dividers, multis etc..he asked for overclocking his cpu right?

Scotty, personally i dont have the board anymore, but several here do. Heat is the main concern. What temperatures do you get with your current clock?

Scotty, have you tried raising the multiplier and seeing how high the cpu will go?
If it will only go up a bit, then just run that way.
On the other hand if really runns then you might seriously consider the new ram.

Which rev is your mobo? That makes a difference too. The original rev1, 1.1 and 1.2 would only reach 175-185 fsb. The rev 2 is the great one. Mine runs 220 all day. The newer NF7-S2 is a pos.

thanks for your replies.. at present im running the system at 2075mhz the ram is at 333fsb and the core is still 1.575 ..the temp of the chip is about 41 degrees i dont know if that is an acceptable level as i have always had pentium chips..the processor is running at 166fsb multiplied by 12.5.. now i imagine i can go higher the multiplier in the bios goes up to about 18 or 19. and the fsb goes well into the 200s

Leave the ram at what it is. Use as high vcore so you keep it at 60c max loaded. After 60c, the overclock yield isn't worth it anymore. Just go up a notch on the multi at a time.
