HiJack Me Log Check Please.

Sorry, for bumping this post, but this is a serious problem for me. I found that my computer had rebooted itself overnight, so I've now done 3 repair installs just to post this email and read it. I also attached a new logfile since the computer rebooted.

Original message starts here:

First of all, let me thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide and thanks for offering this great service. So here goes.

Well, I blew it last night. I installed something that I thought was from someone I knew, thinking it was an application plugin. Well it was not. A scan from NOD32 came up clean, but it didn't turn out to be what I thought it was and it has caused some havoc for me.

Here's the symptoms:

Once this little guy was installed I could never get the computer to boot all the way into Windows XP Professional SP2. It would get all the way to the point of the desktop then suddenly log off. And then go back to the login screen.

Safe Mode would not work.

Last Known Good Configuration would not work.

So I did a repair install, which allowed me to get back into Windows. However, once I reboot the computer I'm back to square one. Logging in only to have it log right back out again.

So I'm currently using the computer after the second repair install, and have not rebooted the computer even though I have updates and driver installs that are requesting a reboot.

I've run SpyBot, Adaware, NOD32 and cleaned up some minor stuff, but what ever is causing my problem is not being picked by any of these. In my installed applications the only things I don't recognize are:

DMI Browse
InfoView
VDC minimum
WebFldrs XP
WMIinfo

I've attached the offending .exe in a .zip archive, DO NOT execute it!!!

If anyone can help me get my computer back I would be ever so grateful!!!

Thanks so much,

JB

The attachment has been removed for obvious reasons.

    Please download and run Stinger.
    http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe

Let me know if it finds anything.

Please run these two online scans.
Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

If there are files that can not be removed by the scans please include that information in your next post.

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log.

So I think I got it all sorted out.

More details at the following links:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Security/Bugs_Alerts/Q_21329604.html#13414634
    http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojdelfjj.html
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.affilred.b.html

FYI I was never able to get the Stinger scanner to work. It would hang on file 00001278.js everytime, but a search of my harddrive could not find that file anywhere. Here's a thread were the person had the same problem:
    http://forums.thatcomputerguy.us/lofiversion/index.php/t8918.html

After completing several other scans including the online ones you suggested, SpyBot, Adaware, NOD32, and manually removing several registry entries, I think I have everything clean. Here's my current HiJack This logfile:
