edited March 2005 in Hardware
Spec:

AMD 3200 CPU
Corsir memory 2 x 512
Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 [rev2.0] with latest BIOS update FJ
Maxtor SATA 80g HD

Having problems with all norton programs, causes blue screen and reboot: thats when it dosn't crash during install.[something to do with Si3112r drivers.]

Anyone any ideas ??

If it's a Norton problem during installation, you may be better off going to their site and looking at their support stuff. Sounds like just some weird software incompatibility.

    Thanks for the reply:
    To devolop the problem:

I have 2 pc's: similar hardware [but it will be from manufactures different batches. the first pc everything works OK.[All norton programs went on are working correctly [ Norton firewall & Norton anti virus/utilities] If I put the 2nd hard-drive in the 1 st pc I get the same problem. I also tried a 200 gig SATA maxtor in the 1st PC and had the same problem.
If the Norton goes on OK, The pc boots OK into windows, and when I open something, it blue screens, usual instructions with a Si3112 error address comment. and then reboots.
I am inclined to think its the hard drive/si3112 area thats causing the fault.
Also tried using the si3112r both off the motherboard disk and also the updated verions from Gigabyte.

Obviously getting a bit stuck for ideas now

    Hello

What does the system say completely with the BSOD?

Have you recently had new memory?

Right click my computer go to properties

    then click advanced

    then start up and recovery

    under system failuer uncheck

    automatically restart

Then you can write down the BSOD
