Better is worse???

I just got a GeForce FX 5200 128MB PCI video card, but it seems to run slower than my last card.

My last card was a GeForce 4 MX420 64MB AGP video card.

Could the problem lie in that the first one was agp and the second one is pci?

Counter-Strike: Source - FPS
GeForce 4 MX420: 54 FPS
GeForce FX 5200: 44 FPS (and it goes down to like 20 in fighting...) [the setting are also the same as they were with the other card)

Help would be greatly appreciated, I'm not a very big video card buff or much about them.

You didn't really upgrade. The 5200 series cards are crap and going from AGP to PCI is a major downgrade. The amount of memory means nothing on those cards.

uhhh... im kindof a budget-er so what i've got going for system specs is pretty crappy....

2.0 GHz Celeron....
256MB DDR RAM (very soon will be 512MB)
80 GB hard drive
VIA P4x-266 motherboard

my price range is around $40, im kinda looking for anything better than 64 MB and AGP.

the 9250 is a piece of junk
I would keep an eye out for a used 9700 or 9800 pro

Cool thanks! That 9000 is looking pretty good to me right now.... maybe ill check into that further after i search for used 9700's and 9800 pro's.
