    "ccapp - ccapp.exe - Process Information

    Process File: ccapp or ccapp.exe
    Process Name: Symantec Common Client CC App

    Description:
    ccapp.exe is a process belonging to Norton AntiVirus 2003. It is responsible for the auto-protect and email checking facilities, both of which will not function correctly if this service is stopped. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated."

    i call BS on that, norton is the worst antivirus ive ever seen, i have NEVER seen it catch a virus, as far as utilities go SOME norton stuff is ok. if you are using norton for an antivirus i would try diasbling norton from starting and then seeing if it shuts down faster

    to do this click

    start -> run -> msconfig <ENTER>

    click the rightmost tab "startup" and uncheck norton

    it will tell you to restart your machine, when you do norton is excluded from startup and wont start. after that you can see if it shuts down any faster, if not i would turn it back on my going back into msconfig and rechecking it, if it does speed up i would recomend a new antivirus, my suggestion is AVG, a FANTASTIC antivirus and its free!!

    heres a link to AVG free edition

    nortons is a resource hog, it will keep the pc from shutting down if it cannot end a process...there are many other apps that will do the same. if you have a hp printer, you should see the processes it starts, also a bad resource hog.
