Strikethrough in Outlook

edited March 2005 in Science & Tech
I know this is probably something simple to fix, but any help would be appreciated. In Outlook, when I delete emails, it simply strikes through them. It doesn't move them to the deleted items folder or clear them from my inbox. How can I change this so that it will clear from my inbox rather than strike through? Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the full version of Outlook, or Outlook Express? And which version? Also, are you referring to messages downloaded from a POP server, or is this an e-mail address that uses a corporate mail server or something?

strike-through would imply that you're using an IMAP and not a POP email address.
under one of the drop down menus such (i.e. tools) it has an option to permanently delete messages, that'll do what you want it to

That's what I was getting at. If the e-mail exists on a server, and messages are stored on the server as opposed to locally (many universities, etc, do this) then when you delete a message it stays on the server unitl you purge them by going to the Edit menu and click on Purge Deleted Messages. That then cleans them up off the server.
