Well I got the OK from my finance manager (aka - wife) to return the 20.1" LCD in exchange for the 24" one.
Just ordered the new one!
We had both alotted a % of our tax returns for each of us to have an "us" purchase. She's been eyeing a watch she wanted, so she gets her watch, and I get my monitor.
...................................................Man! my wife is cool
And she's probably telling her friends you're cool since you're 'allowing' her to buy the watch, too.
I made a similar deal with my fiancee regarding the money we get in wedding presents... she's going to buy a ~$1000 washing machine, and I'm going to buy a ~$1000 HDTV.
I couldn't even imagine a 24" screen monitor, haha. My god, my 20.1 is so freakin huge to me. I know Dell has been pushing these monitors out the door a lot the past few weeks.

Can't wait to see how Doom 3, Far Cry, & HL2 look on a 24" (*RADA shudders from the coming technological bliss)
Thats awesome... I am having trouble getting aproval from my manager (girlfriend) to spend 2x as much on 4 more inches.... I bet if we were arguing about adding 4" to my anatomy she would be all over it :shakehead Prejudice.
just joking btw...
Anyhoooooooooo
Can ya post some pics when you get it? I would like to see a size comparison between the two.
I recieved the replacement Monday, and it is perfect in the sense that it has no bleed through or dead pixels.
However. I can notice that its not quite as bright as the 1st one they sent. Also if you look really closely this new one has a somewhat grainy look. The old one had more of a screen door look. You have to look VERY close to see it. My girlfriend cant tell at all. But I am very picky.
Also there are some light up numbers 1-4 on the bottom of the monitor, that light up depending what input is selected. That did not work on the old one, but does on the new one.
I am extremely happy with the new one. These monitors are shaweeet!
The widescreen 2001FPW is $486 again, I REALLY want to order it (if I qualify for their financing, I have the money to pay for it but I'd rather do it over the 6 months 0% APR then drop $486 all at once)
but I dont really want to mess around with these problems of screen bleeding and dead pixels, do they pay to ship the monitor to and from you??

Cam,
If the monitor is defective in any way, Dell will pay for return shipping. The only downside is the return shipping is usually 5-7 days. It probably will arrive back to them sooner, then again you may end up waiting.
As for deal Pixels, or Back Light problems, FormFactor is the only one I personally know of having these problems. 4 coworkers of mine bought 2005FPWs within days of me buying mine, they all say their LCDs are perfect.

I think I'll give in on the next paycheck if there's a similar deal still.
I may send mine back for a 24 inch... That wiould be saweet!

A magnificent as it is, there will be no RADA-junk displayed on S-M!
I will post pictures of the new monitor when it arrives!
* RADA stomps off to get a cup of instant coffee, before hitting the Mickey-D's drive thru!
With this being the new 24" LCD, I think I'm gonna be waiting. :bawling:
Looks like you were right Clutch, it should be here by Thursday!
