2nd hand laptop: acer travelmate 420

someone is selling me this... jaz want to know what is the reasonable price for this unit and is it worth it?

    I'm guessing it is used. Under "specifications" which model are they trying to sell to you? I think the only difference from a quick glance is the screen size.

    I'd say between $500-$600 for it, regardless if it's the better one. It's only got 400mhz more cpu power, and 10gb extra drive space. It's a P4, so it's not the best mobile CPU. Really, I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it, you can get a brand new laptop for about $200 more from Dell or many other places these days and it won't come with that 845 chipset which limits you to a 400mhz FSB. Plus you're gonna have to shell out extra $$$ to get a wireless card, if you want that of course. The video is old (R7500, 32mb), the hard drive is small, it's basically going to only serve you for word processing, internet, email, homework, nothing else heavy duty. $500 is what' I'd pay.

    I am going with Kanez, I was thinking around mid $500. Heck, you might could get one on ebay for around that price, but more bang for your buck.
