Controlling computers remotely

edited March 2005 in Science & Tech
How do I go about controlling one computer from another (In WinXP)? For example, I want to activate, let's say Limewire, on one computer from a different computer and have it start doing whatever.

xp has a built in remote desktop server/client.

on the computer you want to control remotely:
    system>remote>allow users to connect remotely
-set the account you want to allow.

on the computer you want to use to control the other:

start -> accessories -> communications (?) -> Remote Desktop Connection

Awesome, thanks. I can't do everything I want with it (P2P programs don't seem to work right and sounds aren't coming through) but it's still sweet.

one of the options includes the ability to bring remote sound to the controlling computer.
I've found that you would have to stop and restart music that was playing before you remote controlled it to bring the music over.

i dont know why a p2p program wouldnt be working. what exactly isnt working?

Well, the computer I am remotely controlling is a on a wireless network and Limewire keeps saying "trying to connect". Its like it's not sensing any internet connection.
