Clicky/Popping Noise coming from speakers

edited March 2005 in Hardware
I have had my computer for around a year and have not had problems with my speakers until a week ago. I have Creative Labs speakers. 4 speakers and and a sub. I am playing music using Media Player. Throughout any song a clicking or popping noise happens frequently. I have checked all of my connections and configurations and everything is fine. Like i said this problem just started. Any suggestions? This is driving my nuts !! Thanks for any input.

Not sure if this pertains entirely, or if you can even do it with your media player. However. Make sure a setting somewhere in there isn't set to too high of a bit output. I accidentally set MPC to 32 bit for awhile, and could never figure out the clicking (on movies, obviously, not songs). Finally I realized that my card could only handle 24bit signals, and the extra 8 probably caused it to freak out (hence the popping).

    Just a thought.
