edited March 2005 in Science & Tech
I need some if possible, I have installed a new version of WINDOWS XP HOME, everything went fine, registering, activation, all good, BUT now every time I boot I get the NEED TO ACTIVATE WINDOWS screen by my clock, I know its activated I have confirmation and all so how do I get this to stop popping up every time I boot. Thank you for the help.

I would call the MS Activation 800-Number and explain it to them. In the long run that will be the safest way to get the problem solved. You don't want to go to your computer a few weeks from now and find that you've been locked out.

Another thing you might check: click Start>>Run and type in msconfig, go the the "Startup" tab and see if there is something listed pertaining to Product Activation. If so, uncheck it and reboot. It could be that a stray shortcut has made it into one of the startup areas of the registry and is mindlessly loading at every boot. Keep in mind that this may leave you in the lurch down the road if Windows decides that your activation isn't really valid.
