printer and speaker problems
I was given a computer and everything is good except when I when to install a new printer. It is running windows 98se and it is compatible but the computer does not recognize the printer. It says USB port not detected. Also I can't seem to get the speakers to work. I believe the system has a sound card and they apparently were working before I got them. I've been doing alot of web research and the term bios comes up alot for both problems. Is there a download or two that could help me. Trying in TO. God Bless America.

You might look in Device Manager and list anything that has a red "X" or yellow "!" next to it.
For the USB problem, look through this page for the "Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility", then download and run the program. That will tell you what chipset your Motherboard uses. Then find the corresponding USB driver for your chipset. If you need more help, just ask.
Since your printer is brand new, it no doubt came with installation discs. Once you have the USB problem straightened out (allowing Windows to see the device) just follow Lexmark's instructions to finish the job.
