You need a second instance of folding running - when you set it up make sure you go into advanced options and make the CPU's ID 2 (I think it should be 2, but maybe 1 if the other CPU's ID is 0).

and the second instance has to be a console. it doesn't matter what ID you set it to, as long as its different from the other one

It can be 2 consoles just not 2 gui's.

    Basically it goes like this.
If you have a folder w/ f@h now then make another folder (like f@h & f@h2).
stop the client from folding temorarily.
copy all of the contents except for the client.cfg file into the new folder.
from this point you can start the new client and configure it identically except for machineID=2 or you can just edit the client.cfg from the first folder. So then you should have a machineID=1 client.cfg in one folder and a machineID=2 client.cfg in the other.
restart both clients and see what happens.

    Are they both console?
    Are they in different files?

When I run multiple I always put -local in my shortcuts.

Yeah you have to put -local when you run more than one. I think they'll try and work out of the same directory if you don't.

You could run two consoles. The graphical client always gave me some problems anyway. Simple to set up, but you'll have to edit the registry if you set it up as a service. On my 2 P4's, I run two consoles as services, and use EMIII to check the progress.

    one is GUI 5.03

the other is console,it will run but it won't run as a ser.

I don't want the console open all the time :(

BTW I can not for the life of me figure out how the use EM3

when it did run the fans kicked on to full speed

that was loud, will gust run it @ 50% fans stay on low

very little noise from them then

I believe that you could run one graphical client and one as a service, eliminating the icky taskbar cloggage.

As for EMIII, the first time I tried setting it up I gave up in frustration after a short time fiddling with it. Months later I tried again and got it with no trouble. I'm sure we could help you out.

I'd suspect that the fans all kicked up to full speed because your CPU was running full tilt. My only complaint with Folding is the heat rise you see from 100% CPU usage. It's not a big deal with me, mainly due to the fact that the 9'X12' BR I use as an office currently has five computers running in it. (All Folding.) It's probably not going to be too quiet in here no matter what I do... :D

yea the fans kiking up becouse of heat

that's a desktop CPU in a laptop for you

    playing a game I don't noticed it ;D

the laptop is in the room I sleep in, so I can't stand the fans going full blast while I sleep.

when I get some time I will play with EMIII some more.

trying to catch up on what I missed, while I was gone

You have to reboot then it will run as a service. It says that right after you say 'Yes' to the service question.

It did not give me an option to start it as A service

it started folding as soon as I clicked the exe

I have used it before then removed it becouse of the deployment I went on

Did you put it in its own folder and use the -local switch? You prolly didnt do one of those.

ok - once you have it in its own folder, you need to open a command line window. Then you switch to the directory, then you run the FAHwhatever.exe file with the "-configonly" switch and then you configure it the way you want to. Make sure you select advanced options Y.

    Own folder
    Create shortcut to it.
    Right click shortcut, properties.
At the end of target line put -local and -configonly after the directory.
