Hey all,
Been a while since i last posted , had some Rl stuff to deal with. Anywho i have come to the time where i am going to upgrade my system's CPU and mobo (or just the cpu if it is deemed a better choice).
My current system is :
AMD XP1800+ TB
Soyo KT600 Dragon Ultra platnum
Xtasy 9600XT 256
1gb of Kingston pc 2700 ram (2x512)
WD Spec editon 80gb HDD (main)
Seagate 40gb (pagefile slave disc)
Audigy 2 ZS
Antec sonata case (w/ stock PSU)

I am looking into the 64 bit realm and wish to know if all my components will be ok
I am looking at the AMD 64 2800+
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-452&depa=1
An either this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-470&depa=1
or the platnium version for the mobo since i only have about $200 to spend :)

So what im asking is it worth it ? Or would i be better off just getting a XP3000+ or the like?

Thanks all
Tmoa

To me, 64-Bit is the way to go. The 64-Bit version of WinXP is nearing the completion of beta testing right now and will likely be released within the next few months. It is my understanding that MS intends to have a trade-in program for those who own the 32-Bit version of XPpro.

32-Bit apps are compatible with the technology, but once 64-Bit apps hit the market this thing is going to fly. :D

BTW - I have the Platinum version of the board you're looking at and love it.
