I've set up my NF7-S Ver.2 / Athlon XP 3200+/ 2- 36G WD SATA Raptors/ OCZ pc3200/ Radeon 9700pro/ TTGI 450W PS/ Got the SATA drivers loaded no prob./ Loaded Win XP pro/ Service pack 1 installed/ Everything is running at proper default speeds/ Not overclocked/ Ran testdisk and scanned for corruption also/ I keep getting restarts at different times and this error. Sometimes it will run 10-20 mins. Sometimes it reboots as soon as it gets to desktop. Right now it's been running 20+ mins/ Can anyone tell me what it is refering to?

    Did you run memtest? :D

I've tried 2x512= 1G brand new OCZ pc3200 high perf. ram in it and changed that out to 2x256= 512MB brand new Kingston pc 3200 ram also. Still get same errors or random reboot.

might be a bad dimm slot or incompatible ram. I still think maybe you should run memtest.

When it boots it's saying the ram is running dual on both rams. Also tried running it with just one stick of each in different slots. Same problem. If the ram is brand new it couldn't be bad could it?
Also checked and it's the right ram for this MB.

Could this be causing these kind of problems. When I try to use windows update and load the new sound drivers I get this message.....

did you disable the onboard sound in the bios and did you instal the latest Nvidia chipset drivers?

It's unlikely, but possible. Eliminating the ram as the culprit will help you narrow the search. If the ram is the culprit, you won't waste hours, days, or even weeks barking up every wrong tree in the forest. :D

Sorry I didn't answer right back last night guys. I had to make a road trip.
Gnome, No, I am not adding a sound card. I'm using the onboard sound and windoze update found those for updating. So, I tried to update them and they don't load. I don't think thats the problem anyway, because sound works fine. Tried starting it up this morning and it just reboots before getting to desktop now. I'll run memtest this morning.

Ran memtest 3.1 on the kingston with my A7N8X MB and it comes up fine with 4 full pass tests= 1.5 hrs. Am running it on the OCZ now --so far 2 passes fulltests-- no errors yet.
Found out at the ABIT site that the NF7-S is compatible with cpu up to 2700.....?
Could that be the problem?---NF7-S, NF7-M, NF7 Motherboard Test Report
Checked the ram and it will use both kingston Kingston 256MB DDR SDRAM pc3200 (KVR400/256R) and the OCZ DDR PC-3200 / 400MHz / Revision 3 / Performance Series Dual Channel.
I'm getting the updated bios too. I hate messing with bios updates. It's confusing how Abit explains it.

Here is a link to some people with the same problem. Maybe you'll find a lead there. :)

Just wanted you all to know... I found the problem. My AMD Athlon XP 3200+ "Barton", 400MHz FSB, 512K Cache Processor is bad. I kept switching parts until I figured it out.
Then looked at the proc with a magnifying glass.. low and behold there's minute chips on the edge. On one of the occasions that I replaced the proc..I forgot the shim and that's what must have done it. So, I'll be running the Athlon 2800+ for now. Thnx for the help guys. Appreciate it much friends.

If you need a magnifying glass to see the chip I'd say you have a good shot at a warranty replacement.

    I hope I'm right. :)

Thnx for the good wishes prof, but I know it was my own careless fault.
I wouldn't feel right tryin to RMA it. I've got 3 pc's done and just need to wait to get a cpu for the 4th. No biggie.
