Dragging and Dropping in Windows

I have two hard drives and whenever I drag a file from one drive to the other, it copies the file instead of simply moving it. I can hold shift while dragging the file but I want to know if there is away to set the default to move instead of copy. Thanks for your help.

No. It does that when moving from one directory to another on a single drive, because all it needs to do is change the FAT entry, and wallalloo! it's moved. It can't dop that from drive to drive. It has to actually copy the contents of the file, and to do a move, it would then have to delete the old file.

The shift shortcut is the way to do it. I think that the developers consider that easy enough, that you don't need any settings changed

Ok. Alright. Thx for the info. Shift will do.

You could also right click and drag if you're lazy like me and only use one hand...sometimes.
