Slow File Transfers and Freezing Apps...HJT Log included
Hey Guys,
I got such great help the last time I was here, I just had to come back and say hello...hehe
The problems I'm having now are showing themselves in excrutiatingly slow file transfers, and many apps freezing up for no apparent reason. My drop menus for the last 4 hours of work today wouldn't show up until I moused over them, but that was fixed with a reboot, although my harddrive still seems to be running like it's being chased by the boogeyman more often than it should.
Firefox seems to be affected more than anything else. It froze up on me 4 or 5 times today alone, and many times while I had multiple instances open to different pages. My Task Manager also shows McShield running when the HD's running hard. My AOL browser (the HotRod that it is...LOL) seems to be a lot more disagreeable than it usually is, too.
I've scanned with AdAware and Spybot until they've come back with nothing, and still my symptoms persist. I've run full system scans with McAfee the last 2 nights. The first night found 7 items and fixed 5 of them. One of the other two I found and deleted myself, but the last one could not be located. It was a file in my System Volume Information folder with a number that fit into the sequence of the rest of the numbers in that folder, and had a .bat file extension. McAfee said it was related to a "KG Downloader" Trojan. (I'm not positive of the initials, but I'm pretty sure it had a "K" in it...) This morning, the scan showed a similar file, and I clicked "Fix" on it, and it told me it was found and fixed. Yet, alas, my symptoms persist still...
Here's my latest HJT log file, scanned about 30 minutes ago, immediately following a reboot. I'm a little concerned about something near the bottom called "PLSRemote.exe". It might be legit, I just don't remember having seen it before.
BIG thanks in advance to whoever is super cool enough to bestow upon me the infinite wisdom of the elder geeks. (I mean "geek" in the most loving sense, by the way...LOL...matter of fact, my race car says "SpeedGeek" on it...)
