edited December 2007 in Gaming
My friends and I are very into war games or shooting games either 3rd person or 1st. We were wondering what are some good co-op shooter games for pc that would be fun at a lan. Thanks

Yea we have played all of those. We are looking for coop campaigns. Like a rainbow six type coop. But all we know of is rainbow six and ghost recon. Which are fairly old.

I found this HL2 mod a couple months ago called Hostile Intent, it was spost to be really team-oriented and realistic. I tried it out, wasn't for me. maybe youd like it.

I think the lan multiplayer co-op concept is still too new to have been incorporated into most of the mainstream pc games. Although it is a very good idea, and would add a tremendous amount of replay value.

There are however a few user developed mods that add coop functionality to some of the more popular games.

For Doom 3 there is a mod called Last Man Standing
And there is also one for Far Cry called The Far Cry Coop Mod (no originality points for the title ;) ).

I havnt tried either. But they sound cool.

Sven Coop for HL1 was a sweet conversion mod if u never played it, the more people in the game the harder the monsters are, and its not like regular HL, it takes monsters ALOT to die in Sven, and there are a ton of levels

Enemy Territory. It's free and good teamplay, but you should have at least 10-16 players, 'cause the maps are quite big.

Hey i just have a question on the Hostile Intent mod is it a HL2 or HL1 mod. You say HL2 but when i installed it wanted to go into the C:Sierra:Halflife directory so i am jus confused....not mad just wondering if i have to install half life again or not.

i just tried the hostile intent mod installer for HL2, and it points to the right folder for me.

Which version did you dl i got the 1.35 for hl1 i see but at the top it says this :
Currently available versions of Hostile Intent require Half-Life 1. Check back later for news about our Half-Life 2 version, Hostile Intent: Phoenix Rising.
I dont see the HL2 one available?

I wouldn't call the idea too new at all. I'd call it an excellent idea that is far too underused. I remember playing co-op with the original doom. Now that was fun. Although I could be crazy, and it might be the bar talking.
