i've had Avast free home edition for a couple months now, and i thought the subscription was unlimited. yesterday i'm getting an error that it ran it so now i can't update. is there anyway i can fix this? and am i vunerable now? thanks.

I don't know if AVG is unlimited and it's not a good idea not to have AV protection.

But, until you get one, you should scan your computer regularly (at least once a week, especially since you have no AV protection) at Trend Micro's Housecall here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ or Panda Activescan here http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm.

Until someone gives you a better solution, you should do the above

its still scanning just not updating.

It is always important that all AV have subscription including free AV like AVG.

I learnt the hard way. I once had Norton 2003 with a FREE six month subcription (when I bought my PC) and after the subscription expired, Norton 2003 was still scanning but I had no new Virus Definitions and I thought its working without the updates so I guess it's fine and every Norton 2003 scan always came clean but It was until I got Norton 2004 (with subscription and downloaded the updates) that I realised that my comp was infected badly.

I hope you see what i'm trying to say. It's always important to get updates for AV even if it still scans.

Yeah its worth it. Skip going out a couple times a month and save the money for a copy of NAV. If you look on PriceWatch you can usually find a copy pretty cheap. Better than losing all the files on your HD to a virus

i went to the website, filled out the form, and got a liscense key in my email. all better now. updating perfectly fine.
